PIPING
LESSONS
I have been teaching piping both professionally and privately for over 25 years, and have taught all levels from beginner to advanced players.
I have taught both individuals and groups of varying ages and skill levels.
Please contact me with any questions you may have and I will be happy to help answer them.
WHY TAKE LESSONS
The bagpipes are an intreguing instrument that attract many people to want to learn to play it. Many people make the mistake of trying to learn on their own, but never get past a simple scale and a barely passable melody of one or two tunes.
The bagpipes are a challenging instrument to learn and need to be taught to help the learner execute the tehnique, melody and subtle intricacies associated with learning this complex and ancient instrument.
WHAT DO I NEED
To start learning the bagpipes, you need a practice chanter, a tutor book and at least a half an hour a day to start, leading up to about an hour or so, two to three days a week for intermediate and advanced pipers.
Practice chanters and tutor books can be purchased at any piping and drumming supplier (please see my links page for suppliers)
You should take lessons weekly so that your instructor can monitor your progress, give you new material at a regulated pace, and check your technique for correct fingering, musical flow and help you learn the best way to execute movements, play tunes, and play the pipes at the highest standard.
